Key Features

🪣

Designed for 1L–10L Lubricant Pail Formats

Lubricant pails — particularly 4L and 5L HDPE buckets used for automotive motor oil and hydraulic fluid retail — have a wide mouth and require careful nozzle positioning to prevent splashing and sidewall contamination. Our 4-head linear lubricant bucket filling machine uses adjustable centering guides and downward-angled anti-splash nozzles that fill the pail from a submerged position at the start of fill, transitioning to the surface as the pail fills. This eliminates foam and reduces sidewall contamination by 90% compared to straight-drop nozzle filling, maintaining clean label presentation for retail lubricant products.

🔒

Integrated Lid Press & Tamper-Evident Sealing

Lubricant pails are typically sold with press-fit or snap-fit lids, often with a tamper-evident tear-off safety ring. Our filling line integrates an automatic lid placement and lid press station immediately after the fill station — eliminating manual lid handling that slows output and introduces contamination risk. The optional tamper-evident ring applicator applies heat-shrink or snap-on safety rings at rates matching the fill station speed. The complete fill-and-close unit occupies 3.5 linear meters and can run HDPE pails from 1L to 10L without tooling changes.

🎨

Label-Ready Surface for Retail Packaging

Automotive and industrial lubricant pails are often sold through retail channels (automotive shops, hardware stores) with full-wrap self-adhesive labels showing viscosity grade, specification certifications (API SN+, ACEA C3, JASO MA2), and brand identity. Our machines ensure consistent fill levels (within ±3mm of target headspace) that prevent label bubbling caused by overfill. The integrated self-adhesive labeler applies front and back labels at line speed, and the inkjet coding unit applies lot number and production date before the lid press — maintaining full regulatory traceability for retail lubricant products.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a lubricant bucket filling machine and a drum filling machine?

A lubricant bucket filling machine is optimized for small pails and buckets (1L–10L), typically using volumetric piston filling for speed and consistency at 1,000–3,000 pails per hour. The containers are moved on a conveyor belt and filled from above with anti-splash nozzles. A drum filling machine is designed for large containers (20L–200L drums and IBCs) using net-weight filling at a single stationary platform — 2–10 drums per minute. The two systems are typically separate lines serving different customer segments (retail vs. industrial bulk).

Can the machine handle metal lubricant pails as well as HDPE?

Yes. Both HDPE and steel/tin pails from 1L to 10L are supported. Metal pails require different conveyor chain guides (to prevent scratching the tin exterior during transport) and different lid press tooling compared to HDPE. The fill nozzle system is the same for both materials. Many lubricant manufacturers run separate dedicated lines for HDPE and metal pails to avoid frequent tooling changes, but a single flexible line with two tooling sets (changeable in 20–30 minutes) is also a common configuration.

How do I prevent foam when filling motor oil into 4L pails at high speed?

Foam formation in motor oil pails is primarily caused by turbulent entry of the oil at the fill nozzle. Our anti-foam filling protocol uses three techniques: (1) submerged fill nozzle positioning — the nozzle tip starts at the base of the pail and retracts upward as the oil level rises; (2) controlled fill rate — oil enters at 15–30 L/min for the first 20% of fill, then increases to 60–80 L/min for the bulk fill, then returns to 15 L/min for the final 10% to prevent surface turbulence; (3) fill cutoff at 5–8mm below the pail rim to allow natural foam settling before lid application.

What container formats can be changed without tooling?

The 4-head linear machine can change between pails of the same diameter but different heights (e.g., 2L and 4L HDPE pails both use the same diameter) using only a height adjustment on the fill head — no tooling, 5-minute changeover. Changing between different diameters (e.g., 4L HDPE to 10L HDPE) requires centering guide replacement — 10–15 minutes with basic tools. Format recipes for all pre-set containers are stored in the PLC and recalled via touchscreen, so height adjustments can be motor-driven automatically on recipe selection.
