What is a powder bagging machine?

A powder bagging machine automatically fills and closes open-mouth bags with powder, granule or pellet products. Unlike valve bag machines (which fill through a valve in the bag itself), open-mouth bag fillers fill through the open top of the bag. The machine holds the bag open under a fill spout, doses in the product to target weight (net-weight via load cells, or gross-weight via platform scale), vibrates the bag to settle the product, then closes the bag top by sewing, heat sealing or folding. Commonly used for 10–50kg bags of flour, cement, fertilizer, chemical powder and animal feed.

What is the difference between net-weight and gross-weight bag filling?

Net-weight filling: the bag is suspended on the machine and product is dosed into the empty bag; load cells weigh the bag contents directly, ignoring bag weight variation. Can the machine handle both free-flowing and cohesive powders?

Yes. Free-flowing powders (sand, pellets, sugar, salt, feed): a simple gravity-feed fill spout with butterfly valve dosing is sufficient. Cohesive or hygroscopic powders (flour, cement, fine chemical powder): a pneumatically-assisted impeller fill spout, vibration table, and anti-bridging agitator in the hopper are required. Fine or dusty powders (cement, fly ash, talc): a sealed fill spout with dust extraction collar prevents powder escape during filling.
