Net-Weight Load Cell Control

Auto Drum Positioning
Roller conveyor with servo-driven stop/start positions each drum precisely under the fill head within ±5mm. No operator intervention required between drums. Empty drum detection prevents false fills. Full drum detection confirms fill completion before conveyor indexes to the next position.
Anti-Drip Fill Head
Pneumatically actuated anti-drip valve at fill head closure prevents liquid from dripping onto drum exterior. Essential for paint, coating and chemical drum filling where exterior contamination causes labeling adhesion failures and customer complaints. Drip tray below fill head captures any minor leakage.

Our drum filling machine achieves ±0.05% accuracy on 200L drums — equating to ±100g on a 200kg fill. This is achieved through net-weight load cell control with a fast-slow fill approach: fast fill to approximately 90% of target weight, then slow precision top-off to the exact target. The four-point load cell platform updates at 200 samples/second, allowing sub-100g resolution on heavy containers. For comparison, volumetric filling systems typically achieve ±0.5–1% on large drums.
What liquids can a drum filling machine handle?▼
Our drum filling machines handle: paints and coatings (water-based and solvent-based), lubricants and motor oils (wide viscosity range), chemical products including acids, alkalis and industrial solvents (with appropriate wetted part materials), food-grade liquids (cooking oils, syrups, liquid food ingredients), and pharmaceutical-grade bulk liquids. Wetted part material options include SUS304/316L for corrosive chemicals, HDPE and PTFE for highly acidic/alkaline products, and carbon steel for non-corrosive applications.
Does your drum filling machine require ATEX certification?▼
ATEX certification is required when filling flammable liquids with flash point below 60°C (including most organic solvents, alcohols, petroleum products and flammable paints). Our standard drum filling machines are CE certified for non-hazardous applications. ATEX Zone 1 (Ex d IIB T4 Gb) versions are available for continuous explosive atmosphere environments. Zone 2 versions for occasional explosive atmosphere exposure are also available. We recommend specifying your exact product flash point and vapor pressure so we can confirm the required ATEX category.
What is the throughput capacity of a drum filling line?▼
A single-head drum filling machine achieves 60–80 drums/hour for most products. High-speed versions achieve up to 120 drums/hour for low-viscosity liquids with fast settle time on the load cell. For higher throughput requirements, dual-head configurations double capacity to 120–240 drums/hour on a single conveyor. A complete drum filling line (empty drum depalletizing, filling, capping, bung wrench sealing, labeling and palletizing) occupies approximately 20–35 meters and can be designed to your specific factory layout.
