FAQ

What is the main challenge when filling flour with a machine?

Flour is a cohesive, hygroscopic powder that compacts and bridges easily. The main filling challenges are: bridging (flour arching over the auger inlet, stopping flow), density variation (flour bulk density changes with humidity and handling, affecting volumetric accuracy), dusting (very fine flour particles create dust clouds during filling, requiring enclosed fill zones and extraction), and static charge buildup in the hopper. Our flour filling machines address all these with anti-bridging agitators, vibration hoppers, and enclosed fill zones.

What fill weight range can the flour filling machine handle?

Our flour filling machines handle from 250g (retail bags) to 25kg (bulk bags). The most common retail flour sizes — 500g, 1kg, 2kg, 5kg paper and plastic bags — are all within the standard range. For 10–25kg open-mouth sacks (bakery supply, food service), net-weight scales with automatic bag clamping and bag settling vibration are used. For very large volumes (50kg+ bulk bags), our bulk bag filler is recommended.

Can the machine handle both wheat flour and specialty flours?

Yes. The machine handles wheat flour (all protein levels), rice flour, corn starch (maize flour), tapioca flour, almond flour, coconut flour, chickpea flour and other specialty baking flours. Different flours have different flow properties: corn starch is more cohesive than wheat flour; almond flour has larger particle size and oily residue. For very hygroscopic or cohesive specialty flours, the anti-bridging paddle speed, auger pitch and hopper geometry are adjusted. Contact us with your specific flour type for a configuration recommendation.

What bag types does the flour filling machine fill?

Flour filling machines fill various bag formats: paper bags (standard retail flour bags with side gusset, 500g–5kg), polyethylene bags (heat-seal closing), woven polypropylene bags (10–25kg, stitched or heat-sealed top), and laminated bags (barrier film for long shelf life). For paper and woven bags, an automatic bag clamp holds the bag during filling; the bag is released after filling and moves to a sewing or heat-sealing station. For PE bags, an inline heat sealer closes the bag top.

How is the flour filling machine cleaned for different flour types?

The flour filling machine uses quick-release components for fast cleaning. The auger, funnel, fill nozzle and hopper can be removed tool-free in under 10 minutes. All contact parts are SUS304 polished for easy cleaning. For allergen changeovers (e.g., switching from wheat flour to gluten-free rice flour), a full wash-down procedure is used: remove and rinse components, clean the hopper interior, inspect and sign off. Machines for strict allergen management can be supplied with complete stainless steel contact surface sets with colour coding.

What certifications does the flour filling machine carry?

Standard certifications: CE (European Conformity, machinery directive), ISO 9001:2015 (quality management system). Optional certifications: BRC Food Safety (for food-grade production environments), NSF/ANSI 51 (food equipment), cGMP (pharmaceutical-standard cleanable design). For markets requiring specific local certifications (EAC for Russia/CIS, SASO for Saudi Arabia), custom certification documentation can be arranged.
