A multi-head combination weigher uses 10–32 independent weigh buckets that each hold a portion of product. A computer selects the combination of buckets whose weights add up closest to the target weight. Accuracy: ±0.1–0.3% for free-flowing granular products. Speed: 50–200 bags/min for small fills. Best for high-value products (premium rice, specialty grains, seeds) where accuracy and speed are critical. A linear weigher uses 2–14 heads in a row, best for longer, cylindrical products. For commodity grain in large bags (1–25kg), a single net-weight scale filler (platform scale or load cell) is often more economical.

Yes, with appropriate design features. For oily seeds (sesame, sunflower seeds) and nuts (peanuts, almonds), our multi-head weighers use titanium-coated or stainless steel non-stick coated buckets that prevent oily residue from building up. The bucket chutes use steeper angles to ensure oily products slide freely. For very sticky products (honey-glazed nuts, coated dried fruit), a linear weigher or volumetric scoop filler may be more suitable. Multi-head weighers are most cost-effective for fills from 50g to 5kg. For smaller fills (50–500g), 14–32 head weighers are used for maximum speed and accuracy. For larger fills (1–25kg), 10–14 head weighers or net-weight scale fillers are more appropriate. For very large fills (25–50kg bulk bags), a dedicated large bag scale filler is used. The most common grain packaging sizes — 1kg, 2kg, 5kg retail bags — are in the optimal range for multi-head weigher efficiency.

A grain filling machine (multi-head weigher) is typically mounted directly above a VFFS (Vertical Form Fill Seal) bagger or a pre-made bag filler. The weigher discharges each weighed portion through a timing gate into the bag below. For VFFS integration, the timing is synchronised so the weigher releases product exactly when the bag is open and ready. For pre-made bag fillers, the bag is held open under the weigher discharge point. Integrated systems include a checkweigher and reject conveyor downstream for 100% weight verification.
